Worst Dad Part 2: Man Gets Life In Prison For Throwing His Baby Off A Bridge

worst dad
We may have spoken too soon when we said earlier that a man from the Bronx who poisoned his kids was the worst dad ever, as Shamsiddin Abdur-Raheem has been sentenced to life for throwing his infant daughter off of the Driscoll Bridge into the Raritan River.

The man stopped on the Garden State Parkway to throw his 3-month-old daughter, Zara, off of the bridge in February 2010.

In addition to the life sentence, Abdur-Raheem has to serve an additional 30-year sentence consecutively for kidnapping the girl, meaning he must serve a bare minimum of 89 years before the possibility of parole.

Abdur-Raheem was found guilty by a Middlesex County jury of murder, kidnapping and endangering the welfare of a child on September 7th following a two-week trial in New Brunswick.

The jury also found him guilty of two counts of simple assault for attacking the baby’s maternal grandmother and striking her with a van when he abducted the baby from the grandmother’s apartment in East Orange.

“This defendant murdered a baby, stealing her away from those who loved her most, ending her innocent life in a horrifying act of violence,” said Attorney General Chiesa. “Justice demanded that he receive this sentence, which will keep him in prison for the remainder of his life.”
Running the grandmother of your child with a van and then throwing your child off of the bridge? Yup, that sounds like we may have found the worst dad ever. Hopefully nobody tries to trump this horrific tragedy.
