10 Things You Should Be Able To Say Before You Die

What does it mean to live your life? The specifics of the answer will unquestionably differ for every person on this earth, but it’s safe to say that the majority of us would agree that the knowledge that we experienced all we ever wanted to see and feel would provide satisfaction to anyone looking to live a fulfilling, fruitful life.

Before you die, you should be able to say that you made a mark on this world, that you used all of the gifts you have been given to their fullest extent and that understood the beauty of what it means to be human. We are presented the opportunities to become the best version of ourselves we could possibly be, and everybody wants to be able to say that they took advantage of these chances to see how far life’s rewarding journey could take them.

To have an impact on the world you live, to know that you did all that you could to become someone who only deserves the life you have dreamed of is a goal that should be taken seriously because accomplishing it is the closest someone can get to truly grabbing life by the balls and using it for all it is worth. Here are the 10 things you should be able to say when its all said and done.

10.I followed my heart and passion

As the late and great Steve Jobs once said: “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice, heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Never forget that this is your life and there is a reason you are who you are. Take what is inside you and validate your dreams by making them a reality. Don’t let others stop you from doing what you truly would love to do. Go where you want to go. The sky is the limit.

9. I said what I had to say

You must say what you need to say when you need to say it. It may be your only chance to do so. Don’t censor yourself. Speak from your heart.

The worst thing you can possibly do to your future and overall well being is hold something in and let it eat you alive. Stand up for what you believe in and if you feel the need to reveal a harsh truth to explain yourself, do it. Trust me, you will feel a lot better once you get if off your chest and know that you made the outside world aware of what it was doing to you. If others don’t accept it, it’s their problem, not yours.

8. I did what I had to do.

There are those who live to stay safe and secure, even if it means ignoring what is inside of them and their urge to venture out of their comfort zone to explore a more fruitful future. Challenge the circumstances you are faced with so you can know that at least you tried to go above and beyond the hand you were dealt. Do all you can to give yourself the life you have always dreamed of instead of waiting around for something to happen because it never will.

The greatest gift the elite of this world have over other people is the ability to get themselves to engage in the necessary actions that will eventually reward them with fruition and satisfaction. They are all about getting from where they are now to where they will be in the future and understanding that the path to get there is not an easy one at all.

In the end, suffering from the pain of discipline while you do what you need to do is a whole lot easier than suffering from the regret and disappointment of never fulfilling any of your dreams.

7. I made a difference in this world.

Act as if what you do makes a difference in the lives of other people because it does. The most meaningful way to measure a legacy is by the impact someone has on the world around them and the steps they took to change it for the better.

Do something that’s greater than you – something that helps someone else to be happy or to suffer less. The difference you make in today’s world is something no one can ever take away from you.

6. Understanding what true love it.

Hip hop mogul and entrepreneur, Diddy, has said time and time again that his biggest regret is that because of his unbreakable ambition needed to start a record label, he was never ever able to feel the feeling of true love.

True love is finding a companion that will always be there for you through thick and thin because they love who you are, no matter what happens to you. This is the person that sees you for all the goodness you have to offer and loves being around you at any given time. There is just something about the way you think, feel and act that makes this person aware of all the beauty this world truly contains.

Relationships must be chosen wisely. It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company. There’s no need to rush. If something is meant to be, it will happen – in the right time, with the right person, and for the best reason.

Love is beautiful and unpredictable. The best thing you can do is to start to become someone who gives so much that overwhelming love is a deserving reward for all of your efforts. The universe will know when you are ready, and when you are, true love will happen unexpectedly.

5. I am happy and grateful.

You can control how you view what’s going on around you better than anybody else. An in depth look at what is in front of you will most definitely reveal that there are more things in your life that should be embraced rather than rejected.

You can be happy by not only being grateful for all that you have but also by transforming your life to give yourself the life your heart and soul desire. It’s all within you and within your way of thinking. How you view yourself and your world are conscious choices and habits. The lens you choose to view everything through determines how you feel about yourself and everything that happens around you. You must choose to be happy.

As Mick Jagger once said, “You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you might find you get what you need.” Look around. Appreciate the things you have right now. Many people aren’t so lucky.

4. I am proud of myself.

Be proud of what you have accomplished and raise your self-esteem during the process. Have the passion in your life to please your biggest critic, which is of course, yourself. Understand that if you want to feel good about yourself, you must make sure you act on your inner desires and do your best to fulfill the duties you feel you are responsible for as a human being.

Being proud requires envisioning the person you would like to become and making your best efforts to grow as an individual. Push yourself to the limit, and don’t ever be content. The more you continuously push yourself to become a better person, the more rewarding your life will be.

3. I became the best version of me.

Don’t ever change or be ashamed of who you are just because you might not seem appealing or desirable to other people. Trying to be something else will never get you far. You are unique and there is no one else exactly like you. Take pride in that and don’t ignore the individual gifts you’ve been given by trying to make believe you have someone else’s.

Strength, success and contentment come from being comfortable in your own skin. Remember, at any given moment, you are in competition with one person and one person only – yourself. You are competing to be the best you can be. Embrace who you are, do what you love and you will eventually be the best version of who you are.

2. I forgave those who have hurt me.

Life has its share of pains and everyone gets hurt at some point or another by a different person or event. Trust is broken and sometimes your world gets swept from underneath you, but it is up to you to let this pain go and not let the demons inside of you control how you think, feel and act.

Not coming to peace with who or what has wronged you limits us from enjoying the beauty of friendship and romance in addition to distracting us from living in the moment and taking control of what’s in front of us.

Grudges are a waste of time and energy. To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover the prisoner was you.

1. I have no regrets.

Living a life of regret is a form of ignorance that forces you to believe that you can change something that is out of your control. There is simply no point in obsessing over the past because you don’t have a chance to alter it. You do, however, always have the chance to change the life you are living right now.

If there is something you regret not doing, there is always a time and a place to start doing it in the present. You can’t change what you did but you can change what you are doing at this very moment. The only person who can make you stop trying to fill a certain void in your life is you. Don’t regret not doing something because you never run out of chances to do it in the first place.
