It’s no secret that success is all we are really living for day in and day out. Success proves that you have won in the game of life and have become a stand out member of society, having a valuable impact on the lives of many people and the world around you.
Everyone wants success, but if everyone got it, this goal might not seem as desirable and respectable as so many inspiring stories have made it out to be. It’s a good thing we don’t have to worry about a loss of balance like this because success is a puzzle that only a select few can solve to the very end.
As we all know, the road to success is a lot harder than those who embark on it could have possibly conceived. It takes an unbelievable amount of focus, passion, hard work that only gets tested more rigorously when pressure and sacrifice eventually come into play.
There are no shortcuts and the rules will simply not bend for anyone. It’s easy to misunderstand these rules just like it’s almost natural to reject the discomfort that comes with trying to become someone deserving of success.
The following reasons will explain why the majority of us abandon this dream and fall back into routine-based lives. This will sharpen your perception of what it means to be successful by understanding what everyone is doing wrong so you don’t fall in the same traps as they do.
1. You focus on too many things at one time
You need to always remind yourself that you are not Superman and you cannot possibly do 100 different things at one time. You cannot provide an equal amount of focus on multiple endeavors that seem just as important to you.
Focusing on too many things at one time hinders your ability to recognize what is distracting you from reaching your goal. Too many times do people make this common mistake and think that they can handle it but spreading yourself too thin ultimately hurts you more than it helps you in the long run.
You need to figure out what the essence of your goal is and get rid of everything else in your life that might waste your energy and attention. Devote your thoughts to each individual aspect of your long term goal and how you can continuously get one step closer to living the life you have always dreamed of.
2. You procrastinate
Time is the most valuable commodity you have as a working individual. Wasting time on concerns that only bring you farther away from your goal like Facebook or Twitter is pointless and absurd. Instead of taking advantage of every single possible moment you have to move forward you decide to put it off until another day because you are currently too comfortable to try and solve a problem at this very moment.
Do not let insignificant activities make you think you are taking advantage of all the time you have been given to work harder towards your goal.
3. You don’t really believe you could be successful
Many people dream of this stature of success but deep down inside there is a tremendous amount of self doubt and uncertainty that this reward will actually come their way. By not believing in your own prosperity, you can give up easily and make excuses why something will not work without even trying it.
There is a learning curve and there will be failures but it’s up to you to stay strong during those times by understanding that all that matters is whether you believe you can be successful because it is you and only you that can tell yourself to stop trying.
4. There is someone working harder than you
It is a competitive world out there, full of ambitious cutthroats who will do whatever it takes to get to the top. Chances are that when you’re sleeping, someone is working and when you’re working they are working even harder to try to get the same things you want.
This is why you need to give it all you have got at every moment you possibly can. The more you worry that someone else is working harder than you, the harder you will work to satisfy that voice inside of you that says you could always be doing more.
5. Because you are waiting for a hand out
Too many people in this world are waiting for an opportunity to just fall out of the sky that they can easily ride to triumph. The truth is, these people are lazy and want to put in the least effort to get the most in return. No one has ever truly proved themselves worthy of success has ever gotten a free hand out that guided them to become the person they are today.
We have the power to create our own opportunities and you must first prove to the world that you are deserving of success if you want to reap all the benefits of it. You can’t just sit around and wait for things to come to you because until you make a move that could bring you more opportunities to get what you want, you will literally be waiting there forever.
6. The odds are against you
The statistics show that 50% of small businesses fail within the first 5 years and that 85% of all businesses created fail within the first 5 years as well. The odds to succeed are always against you just like there will always be people and circumstances standing in the way of each step you must take to accomplish your goal.
The good news is that there are 741,666 new millionaires every month in this country. The odds are against most people, but if you want to be successful, there must be a lot that separates you from the mentality of the common man.
7. You do not hold yourself accountable
Humans naturally blame others when something doesn’t go the way we planned. If we fail, we don’t want to face the truth that it was indeed our fault and ours alone that we did ourselves wrong. But when something good happens even if we didn’t cause it, we love to take all the credit.
You need to hold yourself accountable for your actions, successes and failures. It’s time to be a adult. What happens in your life is nobody’s fault but your own because you control your decisions and actions. Looking for excuses has never gotten anyone anywhere.
8. You don’t think your good enough
It doesn’t matter how unique your ideas are or what has happened to you in the past. If you believe in yourself and your ability to never stop working to solve all the problems necessary to attain success, you are already one step ahead of the millions of people who just don’t think they are fit for a fruitful life because they don’t believe their personality is worthy of fortune.
Many have probably had the same ideas as you but what really matters is how you decide to execute them in a more effective manner than those who tried to do the same thing. Some of the greatest ideas have never come to life just because the people that originated them thought their dream was simply unattainable and never had the courage to put in the effort to make their vision a reality.
Don’t ever think you’re not good enough and that your mind isn’t good enough. Are you prepared to never give up trying no matter what happens along the way? Congratulations, you’re already half way there.
